Join Team Squirrel!
We would love you to join the Royal Parks Foundation's "Team Squirrel" in our Half Marathon!
What will we be offering our RPF runners?
* A running t-shirt featuring our new mascot (below)
* Much-needed refreshment and a big thank you as you cross the finish line at our RPF post-race reception marquee (including an exclusive goody bag!)
* The encouragement of a cheering team along the route on race day
* Support and advice from our experienced fundraisers
* The opportunity to contribute personally toward creating the new Look Out Education Centre to give thousands of London’s children the chance to engage with the natural world
* Information about The Royal Parks, the projects we’re doing and our vision for future generations
Plus exclusive prizes:
This year we have a sporty new squirrel mascot leading the Foundation team, created by our favourite Disney illustrator Alex Williams. Before Race Day, we will be running a competition to name him, with a goody bag from our Race sponsors to the winner!
In addition, there will be a prize for the fastest RPF runner and for the most successful fundraiser!
What do we ask for in return?
We will be asking our “Team Squirrel” members to pay a £50 registration fee up front to confirm your place.
In addition, we ask that you aim to raise a minimum of £250 towards the work of the Foundation and the Look Out Centre appeal – this can be through sponsorship from your family and friends – or through other creative fundraising activities such as selling old possessions on Ebay; persuading your colleagues to do something unusual for a small fee; hosting a fundraising BBQ or karaoke night at home and so on...
Fundraising for The Look Out Education Centre
Our major campaign in 2009 is to raise the funds needed to create a fantastic new, eco-friendly education centre in the heart of Hyde Park – a place where young people can learn about the natural world and the importance of looking after it. The 1,000 primary school children currently use the Look Out classrooms, converted from old police dog kennels. However the rooms are dilapidated, poorly heated and cramped. Our vision is for a new building, surrounded by a nature trail, which will be able to host thousands more young people and community activities throughout the year.
Please join the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon team and achieve a double dose of satisfaction when you cross the finish line – completing a fantastic sporting challenge AND helping us to ensure generations of children experience the excitement of nature in the heart of London.
If you feel that you are able to help us create the new Look Out Centre by joining our dedicated team of Squirrel followers and fundraising whilst you train, please email Carmine at cbrudenell@royalparksfoundation.org |
