Dedicate a Tree

Frequently Asked Questions

What will my gift support?

Your gift will help support all the trees in The Royal Parks, not just those chosen for dedication. A small proportion will also go towards the general work of The Royal Parks Foundation. Your annual £15 commitment for on-going care will enable us to mail you regularly with the magazine and invite you to events in the years to come.

Can I have a plaque on my tree?

We do not place plaques on or near the trees due to the increased risk of vandalism that these encourage and the potential damage to the tree. This also helps us conserve the natural look of the Parks, which everybody appreciates.

Can I choose my own tree?

Yes. Each Park has an approved list of trees from which you will be able to choose your preferred specimen.

What is a Dedication Ceremony?

This is a chance to come along with family and friends to meet your tree in person. A Park expert will be on hand to help you identify your tree and answer any questions you may have. There is time, should you wish, to read a poem, prayer or otherwise personally dedicate your tree. Each Park will host at least two dates during the year.

How often will I receive the Foundation Magazine?

The Royal Parks Foundation magazine is published twice a year and contains news and features on The Royal Parks.

What is written on my personalised certificate?

Each certificate is tailor-made. People often include the name of the donor, the name of the person receiving the gift, the reason for the gift (wedding, birthday, commemoration) and sometimes a short poem or quotation.

What if my tree dies?

The Royal Parks will do everything possible to ensure your tree remains healthy. If however, your tree should fail for any reason, we will guarantee to replace it with a new one for up to five years after your gift is received.

The length of your dedication is the life of the tree or this scheme – whichever is the shorter - but with a guaranteed minimum of five years. The Royal Parks reserves the right to maintain, re-locate, or occasionally remove trees as required.
